April 27, 2025 at 11:00, Philharmonie Berlin Final Concert of the Walking in Beauty Festival “Walking in Beauty” allows singers and choirs from around the world to perform works by Gjeilo and share contemporary choral music from their home countries. This offers young composers an international platform at the Philharmonie Berlin. Ola Gjeilo will be at the festival as a composer, consultant, and workshop leader. April 15, 2025 um 20:00, Philharmonie Berlin Kammermusiksaal Handel’s “Messiah” – A Literary-Musical Masterpiece A unique concert event: G.F. Handel’s “Messiah” will be performed in a special presentation that combines the oratorio with literary excerpts from Stefan Zweig’s miniatur “The Resurrection of Georg Friedrich Handel.” This concert is the inaugural project of the festival series Sternstunden der Menschheit and promises an extraordinary experience. The original-instrument ensemble L’arpa festante will perform the oratorio using historically informed practices. In addition to the music, selected passages from Zweig’s miniatur will be read live, providing a vivid depiction of Handel’s creative journey and the historical context of “Messiah.” This literary addition offers a deeper dimension, connecting music and text in a captivating way. A highlight of the concert is the large international choir of 450 voices, which will give the performance a monumental presence.
