What are the biggest trends of a cappella music right now? Where are the biggest growth markets? What job opportunities are out there for young professional members of the community?
In this class, the so-called Father of Modern A Cappella will be looking at the history of a cappella from the early prehistoric times until today and bring out important patterns about what to expect in the future. Join in for a well-informed insider’s perspective on the future of domestic and global vocal music scene.
Deke Sharon is contemporary a cappella’s most prolific arranger as well as a performer, composer, director, producer, author, and coach and one of the leaders and promoters of the contemporary a cappella community. He has been credited by many as being responsible for the current sound of modern a cappella.
His career is a long list of exciting experiences as that of arranging Broadway’s “In Transit”, music directing Pitch Perfect 1, 2 & 3, producing the television’s “The Sing Off”, music directing BBC’s “Pitch Battle” and Disney’s DCappella, directing professional groups like Vocalosity, performing TotalVocal at Carnegie Hall, coaching Lifetime’s “Pitch Slapped”, producing albums, tours, and events, as well as publishing arrangements (over 2,000), all the while teaching and promoting a cappella worldwide.
