Broadening the Scope of Choral Music
– How to Attract Your Potential Audience with Particular Performance Formats
Why do you sing in a choir? Is it something you do for fun? To socialize? To give concerts? How would you feel about attending the concert of a choir singing for the same reasons? How much would you enjoy a one-hour choral concert if the singers were not your friends or family members?
Don’t you think it is high time you thought outside the box and created concert formats that your audience cannot wait to attend? In this class you will learn how to do exactly that!
“A professional choir has to be avant-garde. It has to define today’s quality standards and set tomorrow’s trends.” Such is the demanding expectation that has permeated Hans’s career.
The managing director of the Rundfunkchor Berlin and the lecturer of Music Management and Career Planning at the Rockstock University of Music and Theatre has been instrumental in shaping the ensemble’s profile as it is today, evolving from a pure radio ensemble into an internationally renowned concert choir.
Broadening the Scope of Choral Music was one of his many successful initiatives, which aimed at opening choral music to a wide audience through innovative concert and educational formats, as well as sing-along projects. Hans Rehberg holds the Medal ‘Geschwister Mendelssohn’ of the Berlin Choral Association for his outstanding services to choral music in Berlin.
