Creating a Vibrant Learning Community
March 15, 2022 at 19:00 CET (Online Session)
What are the pillars that underpin exciting and vibrant arts communities? What does your organization stand for, and what is your ‘brand’? This class will explore values, ethos and vision, and how to effectively harness the collective power of a community; how great organizations are unashamedly ambitious, have a thirst to learn, connect and collaborate; how great organizations are obsessed with providing exceptional experiences and, in doing so, change the lives of those they serve. What about you? What do you do?
Mat Wright is the founder and artistic Director of the multi-award-winning Barnsley Youth Choir – a community choir that serves over 450 young people in an area of significant deprivation. In January 2020, Mat was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to young people and music in the Queen’s Honours List. He is also the Regional Director for Education for a Trust that supports 27 schools (around 14,500 children) and was also awarded Advanced Skills Teacher status early in his career.
Mat is a talented composer and arranger of popular choral music and has worked throughout the world as a competition adjudicator, clinician, and workshop leader. He is passionate about the use of singing as a mechanism to engage, connect, and transform communities, and is a specialist in engaging and inspiring those who lack confidence and experience.
