Empowering Singers during the Rehearsing Process
How does “learning” really work? How can we tell our conductor’s work is effective and enduring? Are we respecting the natural laws of human beings or running against them?
This class is about transforming conducting and rehearsing in such a way as to lead singers to a higher level of empowerment, self-awareness and deeper knowledge, guided by the belief that the best measure of a conductor’s work is in the quality of the choir and the music. Let’s raise it higher!
Michael Gohl is a passionate and experienced music pedagogue, choir and orchestra conductor, and juror. He is currently a lecturer at the Zurich University of Arts and is regularly involved in the publications of numerous songbooks for festivals, education, and open singing.
Michael was the conductor of the Laudate Chor Zürich, renowned in Switzerland for its performances of classical oratories on stage, and the Jugendchor Zürich at the Conservatory of Zurich, which has received international recognition. Michael’s abilities to lead people of all ages to the richness and the value of music have led him to be regularly in demand as a guest conductor, among others, in international festivals and projects for adults and young people organized by Europa Cantat, the World Symposium on Choral Music, and Les Choralies.
