Your Own Wild Voice

This workshop will take you on a journey that will expand your horizons. Under the guidance of a brilliant musician, you will be listening to extraordinary singing from various parts of the world and breaking down HOW and WHY these different sounds were chosen by singers.

Meet Moira

Moira Smiley is a vocal polyglot, innovative composer, arranger, song collector, and brilliant musician. She has sung in arenas, cathedrals, and at countless venues from the Lincoln Center to the Royal Festival Hall performing with the likes of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Tune-Yards, Tim O’Brien, Eric Whitacre, Los Angeles Master Chorale, New World Symphony, Solas, and The Lyris String Quartet.

Moira has been featured in TED conferences, on BBC Radio and TV, NPR, ABC Australia, and on more than 70 commercial albums, while millions of voices around the world sing her original compositions, choral arrangements, and folk music. Her 2021 vocal-rich, banjo-driven album In Our Voices released with acclaim from international press and is available anywhere you listen to music. Upcoming premieres and current composing projects include ‘Utopias’ for voices and strings, and a re-telling of Ovid’s tale of Narcissus for mobile phones and voices.
