Programming and Running Great Events
Great events can bring great joy to the performers and audiences alike. They can also change people’s lives. But what makes a great event? How can you make it a memorable experience for all the participants?
This class is a chance to upgrade your skills in the planning and delivery of events and discover what lies behind the success of every great festival, from the creation of exciting programs to increasing the support for your event.
Paul Gudgin has been involved with the festival industry for over 30 years working on an extensive range of large and small scale events, including the Aldeburgh Festival, City of London Festival, Durham International Brass Festival, and 8 years as the director of the world’s largest arts festival, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which doubled in size during his tenure with ticket sales growing from 800,000 to 1.6 million.
Paul was the first to receive the Arts and Business Award for Leadership and was awarded an Honorary Degree by the University of Edinburgh. Paul is regarded as a leading expert in the field of festival and event management and currently runs the Festival and Event Management Masterclass, a professional development workshop that has been presented in 26 countries worldwide. In addition, he has been appointed Visiting Professor of Festivals and Events at the Leeds Beckett University.
