“Shakespearean Women” – German Premiere
An extraordinary musical event is coming to Berlin: The song cycle “Shakespearean Women” by Christian Bährenswill have its German premiere. This eight-part cycle brings to life powerful and captivating female characters from Shakespeare’s plays on the concert stage.
The renowned Norwegian women’s choir Concentus, under the direction of Per Sigmund Rettedal, will musically portray the complex personalities from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, Hamlet, and Othello. Look forward to encountering characters such as the witches from Macbeth, Lady Macbeth herself, Queen Gertrude, Desdemona, and the lovestruck Juliet as she pines for her Romeo.
This special performance uniquely blends Shakespeare’s timeless female figures with the modern musical language of Bährens – a must-see for lovers of choral music and literature alike!
The concert will be performed twice, giving you two chances to experience this remarkable program.
