Empowering Singers to Become Powerful Acoustic Instruments
Human beings have amazing potential, both as acoustic powerhouses and intensely passionate communicators through the medium of song. Yet, many are convinced or are told that they cannot sing. Science, in particular anatomy, physiology, and acoustics, says otherwise. This session guides participants in ways that help unlock the singer’s potential in friendly and accessible ways.
Steve Scott is a certified Singing Judge, experienced voice coach, lecturer, clinician, adjudicator, and online education manager at the Barbershop Harmony Society. Steve has completed course work for a Ph.D. in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Kansas, and has an M.A. in Vocal Pedagogy and M.M. in Choral Conducting from Ohio State University, where he also received a Singing Health Specialization.
Steve is a regular adjudicator in national and international competitions and is very much in demand as a clinician with over a hundred invitations so far. He has sung in various quartets and choruses himself, including the 2016 silver-medalist chorus, Central Standard of Metro Kansas City. Steve is also an active researcher and has held several presentations at national and international music conferences.
