Being a Team Player and a Leader in Choral Singing
December 7, 2021 at 19:00 CET
In any kind of ensemble, when aiming for real music-making it is essential to find the balance between leading and being a team player. Conductors can supply singers with various tools that teach them how to lead and how to be led at the same time, whether through deep musical work, practice methods, improvisation, or movement.
This session will cover some of the best techniques to use with your choir.
Yuval Weinberg is the chief conductor of the SWR Vokalensemble in Stuttgart, a principal guest conductor of the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir and the artistic leader of the EuroChoir. Yuval has received a number of awards for his conducting the most recent being that of the Best Conductor Award at the Internationaler Kammerchor-Wettbewerb Marktoberdorf 2017. In 2015, he was given the Gary Bertini Prize for Choral Conductors, and also the first prize at the International Choir Conducting Competition in Wroclaw in 2014.
Yuval studied choral conducting at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin where he was taught by Prof. Grete Pedersen and Prof. Jörg-Peter Weigle. He is regularly invited to lead conducting courses and to conduct youth choirs.
