The Berlin Loves You Festival inspires through interaction between participants and audience. A love story that is renewed at every concert.

The 2026 edition of the festival presents choirs and ensembles that inspire the audience and get them to sing along with them. A special atmosphere for the most passionate choirs in the world.

The festival is designed for choirs and ensembles as well as individual participants.
Whether you are a local community choir, an a cappella choir, a school or university choir, a gospel choir, a singing club or a barbershop choir … if you want to wow the audience, this is your festival!

What do we sing?

The participating choirs and ensembles bring their own repertoire and present it in various concerts and at the closing concert in the Philharmonie.

The principal conductor of the festival has selected 4 pieces that are rehearsed together by all participants in the Berlin Loves You Festival and sung at the closing concert.

These pieces are:

Eriks Esenvalds: Only in Sleep
Indodana (arr. Michael Barrett & Ralf Schmitt)
You Raise Me Up (arr. Roger Emerson)

A brochure with the vocal score will be provided to all participants.

Who will lead the project?

The principal conductor of the Berlin Loves You Festival 2026 is Jan Schumacher, University Music Director and Honorary Professor at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Artistic Director of the Frankfurter Singakademie and conductor of the Camerata Musica Limburg.

Where will rehearsals and concert take place?

Rehearsals of the festival are scheduled in the Gustav Adolf Kirche in Berlin.
The fringe concerts will take part at the Gustav-Adolf-Kirche and at the Matthäuskirche.
The final rehearsal and the closing concert will take place in the beautiful Kammermusiksaal of the Philharmonie Berlin.

What costs are involved?

The participation fee for the festival is EUR 98.00 per participant.
The brochure with the vocal score is included in this amount.
Non-performing accompanying persons are offered a reduced participation fee of EUR 55.00 per person that includes access to all workshops, rehearsals and a concert ticket in the best category for all concerts of the festival including the concert at the Philharmonie Berlin.
Accompanying persons, friends and fans that wish to attend only the concerts can purchase concert tickets in our ticket website.

Principal Conductor of the Festival

Jan Schumacher (Conductor)

Jan Schumacher (*1980) has been University Music Director and Honorary Professor at Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main since 2015. Additionally, since 2024, he has been the Artistic Director of the Frankfurter Singakademie and, since 1999, the conductor of the Camerata Musica Limburg.

With his ensembles, he explores a wide range of repertoire, from Gregorian chant to world premieres and jazz, from symphonic orchestras to big band, as well as vocal and electronic improvisation. Regular recordings for HR, SWR, ORF, RTÉ, EBU, and Deutschlandradio, along with numerous CD productions, document his work. Camerata Musica Limburg is also a first-prize winner of prestigious national (Deutsches Chorfest, Deutscher Chorwettbewerb) and international (Tours, Maasmechelen, Kaunas) competitions and a guest at major music festivals (e.g., Schubertiade Schwarzenberg).

For many years, Jan was a member of the board and music commission of the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat. Since 2019, he has been the chair of the Choral Advisory Board of the German Music Council, making him the artistic director and jury chair of the German Choral Competition. Since 2020, he has also been one of the vice-presidents of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM).
